singapore: planning your trip :)

Singapore marked as the fourth country that i've conquered this year. So we heard about this place called Universal studio in Sentosa Island Singapore...and luckily we stumbled upon a flight ticket with reasonable bargain. Off we (me, dilla, Kak vee and Kak Ju) to Changi Airport, Singapore. Since our focus is the Universal Studio Singapore (USS) alone, we did not really explore other places.

before i go on telling you what so good about this Universal Studio, let me just share on how to make your trip possible.


So,

How to plan your trip?

FIRST look at your BUDGET. If you have little to spend, then you might consider to explore options like travelling with tour package. there are few company that offer some reasonable price inclusive of bus rides to Singapore, ticket to enter USS as well as accommodation. But for me, I prefer to plan my own journey, it'll be more fun, adventurous and satisfying. For our trip, each of us spend around RM 130 for flight ticket and roughly 200SD (5.60SD for MRT, 1SD for entrance to Sentosa Island, 68SD for ticket to USS and the rest for souvenirs and food). so, overall it should be around  RM130 + (200X2.50) = RM 630. this is for a day trip so we saved on accommodation.  

SECOND is your passport. make sure it is at least a year from its expiring date. or else you don't get to travel.

THIRD is Travelling option while you are there. you can check out this website if you decided to use the public transport in Singapore. It help me A LOT in my planning phase of our trip :)

How to get there?? The USS? How???

First of all, you need to be in Singapore. Once you arrived in singapore, find your way to Sentosa Island. Public transport are easily available especially from the Changi Airport. You might consider taking MRT (similar to LRT in Malaysia) as it is cheaper and comfortable. From Changi Station, alight at Harbor Front station and you will find yourself inside the Vivo city shopping mall. From here, you may decide how you want to experience your travel to Sentosa Island. Here are the choices:

1. by sentosa express : it'll cost you around 3SD per entrance to Sentosa Island.

2. by bus with fee of 2SD
3. by cable car with budget around 24SD per ride (one way)

4. by driving with parking fee that i did not know how much it cost.
5. by walking : take a stroll down the Sentosa Boardwalk



We decided to take MRT from Changi and walk down the Sentosa Boardwalk to Sentosa Island. You'll be greeted with the amazing landscape and view of the sea and the Sentosa Island itself. It was not tiresome at all. with distance around 643m, few travellators are provided so that you would not need to walk all the way in case you're exhausted. it's also canopy covered.

At any time, if you look closely at the sea, you might catch a glimpse of ikan todak (sword fish) which is linked to the famous fable about singapore. remember, 'singapura dilanggar todak'?

anyway, after few pit stop for photoshoot, we finally reached the end of the Boardwalk, it took us around 40 minutes. before entering Pulau Sentosa, a fee of 1SD is a must if you are entering by this route. other means came with different charges as stated earlier.


Trivia on Singapore

1. are things there pricey?
    the price range are similar to Malaysia. for example, the MRT ticket cost around 2SD per trip, mineral water 0.5SD, and 5SD for decent meal. but bear in mind. it's in Singapore Dollar, meaning that you need to times 2.50 to exchange the currency in RM. It is quiet pricey but still reasonable.

2. Do you get fine if you litter?
no idea. but From what being observed, Singapore is one squeaky-clean country.

3. how about the people?
just like Malaysia; malays, chinese, and indian everywhere. one unique things is every announcement as well as signboards on MRT are made in each language, so you get to hear 4 different languages : Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin, Tamil and English. Malays there still speaks Bahasa Melayu.

4. Anything else special?
the escalators especially in on the go places such as MRT station and airport move super fast. really. I guess they served to accommodate people who are rushing to catch the train.
