the next stage..

Assalamualaikum...

It's time to grow up. There will be no more depending on ayah. It's time to be independent, finding my own way on how to live my life. Somehow I can't imagine life not being a student. I love being student. To be given  low level of accountability yet a fair amount of trust. Now, the consequences of every decision made bears on my own shoulder. I never thought that growing up could be so intimidating but still, it's just another cycle of life to go through.

I heard stories on how some of my seniors struggle to settle with a descent job even though being in a high demand profession. It's demoralizing and sad to know that our qualification was downgraded by our own profession. For now, all that we can do is to try and market ourselves, to whoever whom appreciate our existence. Maybe, things will change. someday....

As for time being, lets go for job hunting....

At the end of the road...

 Assalamualaikum..

 19th JULY 2012

the last day in pink uniform

The four year journey marked its end today. No words can described the memories that we've made together. No emotions that we haven't been through together. No explanation can decipher the source that bonds us together. No bloodlines was needed to make us feel like we're family.

We fought, we disagree...only to end up with a stronger attachment to each other. Yes we became an item, where everyone plays a vital roles.

On our last day, we had an exam. OSCE. Perhaps the most nerve wreaking exam ever for this four years of study. Then we had pizza together, followed by moment of truth session where each of us gave our farewell speech. most burst into tears, that includes me. Some handle it with smile and humors. but deep inside we were all happy to be apart of each others life for four years. Soon after, 7 of us were called for VIVA session and the rest wait together. It is like the longest day ever we were in uniform, from 8 am to 7pm.
But that doesn't matter. It will be the last time we ever wear it in our very own Nursing department.

a piece of memory that i'll never forget, even though it was taken away in reality, but in my mind, the memories lives on...

And now..it's time for us to fly free. To go on with life, no matter where that road might leads. We might cross each others path, or we might not. Wherever life takes us, no matter how far we will go, one thing for sure...

We had touch each others life that left a deep meaning in our hearts and our memory.
Sisters for 4 years..and forever..

I really love you guys/girls!

may our uhkhuwah stands still forever~~

Farewell....the Rebung Restaurant

Assalamualaikum..

Farewell dinner at Restoran Rebung...

All that begins must come to an end. the sad truth of life. After 4 years of joy, tears, sweat and laughter, now, we had reached the end of our roller coaster. Planned by small committee among the beloved classmate, here we are, at Rebung Restaurant...having our last dinner together as a group.
I'm not going down the memory lane just yet. It's a harsh reality to faced. Will talk about the event details some other time. Instead, fot the time being, let's just talk about the place where the memory was created.

This is Rebung restaurant, owned by Chef Ismail and Dr Sheikh Muzaphar (yup the astronaut-cum-doctor). Situated in Bangsar. The place usually cater for private event. With RM50, we were allowed to indulge ourselves with finger licking good cuisine in 3 hours. Yes, it offers buffet style of dinning, the kind with 'eat-all-you-can-until-you-can't' style.

The restaurant was actually a modified bungalow. So it does kinda feels like standing in front of someone's home when you stand at the entrance. Stepping inside the building, you'll be greeted by a totally different ambiance.

Nursing Annual Dinner...final

assalamualaikum.

Yang terakhir. Nursing Annual Dinner. Alang2 yang terakhir, kami pun nak jugak la rasa special. semua pakat tak naik bas, konvoi dengan kereta. Saya menumpang je. 'Tiada kereta ku bawa kau jalan2' bak kata Jimmy Palikat. Lesen pun tak ada.

Jadi berkonvoi la kami 3 buah kereta. Hasrat nak jadi yang spesial tu termakbul jugak, sebab kami tiba lewat. lebih lewat berbanding VIP. Jadi??

Kem Kompetensi Generik UKM

assalamualaikum

Been to Langkawi for Kem Kompetensi Generik and BTN which is an annual program for nursing department UKM for first year and final year student. among the best activities are cooking competition and trip to Pulau Tuba.

1. Cooking competition.
what so great about it? well try imagine cooking in a group with limited of resources and without any means of communication. All. including sign language and even smiling. our group was given a box of cabbage and set of pots for cooking. to get any other ingredient, we need to depend on other groups mercy. I was caught twice for smiling and exempt from cooking works for almost 40% than other team members. I can stand not talking but smiling is a part of my involuntary muscle reflex.

in the end, we successfully cooked a decent meal with nice presentation...only to learn that we can only

NANSYM 2011

assalamualaikum..

2nd National Nursing Student Symposium (NANSYM) was held in UIAM Kuantan on 22nd october '11. yeah, out of all the time in the world, i chose to join this symposium in the midst of insane scheduled and tons of write up. bravo! you are brave nisa!.

this is the main hall for the ceremony to take place. it's in their Kuliyyah of Science. Nursing students in UIA are blessed to have their own faculty, which they addressed as Kuliyyah Of Nursing. It is approximately 15 minutes away from their main campus in Kuantan (minus traffic jam); if you are travelling with engine powered vehicle. if you are late than you are late, no one can help you..
Well fair enough, here in UKM we are blessed with our own hospital and hostel within walking distance. If you are NOT an early bird like me, at least running to class is still possible..

yeah, our seat are labeled. see there. reserved for UKM! Only four of us from UKM; me, Gervanne, and two juniors : Muazam and Atifah

outdoors view. with gervanne, occupied with her presentation text

Entrance of Kuliyyah of Science.

later in the evening, we were scheduled to follow a visit to UIAM's Nursing skills lab in their very own faculty.

this is where their class takes place. The Kuliyyah of Nursing and Medicine (different faculty, same building) is situated near to Kuantan Parade. or is it Kuantan Mall? owh, forgive me for my forgetfulness. there's just too many things cramped in my brain right now..

Their Kuliyyah was on second floor. On your left of the above picture is where their skills lab is situated. Their skills lab is their WOW factor. one of the most advance skills lab in Malaysia I supposed. I'll write about it later!

Oh yes, we had dinner that night. this was the portion that I successfully take, along with a bowl of mi hoon sup and cendol.  It was ok. Maybe I don't prefer buffet style of dinner if you ask me, especially when you have to queue according to table while your stomach was producing extra gastric acid. It's a torture~~~

with comrades from UiTM and Kolej Politek Mara (KPTM)

overall, the aim of this symposium is to discuss the future of nursing profession, especially for fresh graduated nurses who seem to face difficulty to get placements. insane right, here and there they advertised shortage of nurses and yet these scholar end up jobless. I don't know. perhaps, there will be better future for us. until then....

respect need to be earn. If we want nursing to be respected as a profession, we must show that we are professional in our work. that is the real challenge in nursing.

ASSignmeNTS...

 assalamualaikum....

1. crack your head...pecah kepala fikirkan nasib kenapa la banyak sangat assignments..

brainstorming, brain on fire....otak mula ligat, muka nampak kelat..
yg tengah tu cik sappa, dia bukan anggota Fantastic Four yg ade power hasilkan api tu..tp dia boleh jadi 'berapi' kalau  kerja mula menimbun...tp masih x boleh lawan betapa 'berapinya' lecturer kalau assignment tak hantar..
2. cari semula di mana larinya sesuatu yang bernama KERAJINAN. sebab, idea selalu ade, tapi rasa rajin nak buat kerja tu yg tak de..

cari dimana idea bersembunyi..

the unsung leader

assalamualaikum..

A man is the leader of himself. If we direct ourselves to be a good person, then we will become a better person eventually. Yes, we are the unsung leader.

I was glancing through the 'hall of fame' of our nursing department while waiting for the English teacher whom may help us in translating our research questionnaire. The faces of seniors, dressed in their graduation robe. They has this some sort of glow. The look that say ' We love nursing and we'll bring change '. I can't help but wondering if they still have that same 'glow' or has it withered away.......

and so I ask myself,  what will I become once I took the step out of this nursing school?

'Can I serve the purpose of my profession well???'

'To what extent is my 4 years stores of knowledge be applicable???'

and the worse is.....

' Will I eventually be 'desensitize' with  the common practices that 'degrades' the nursing image???'

haaa...will I lost that 'glow'??

and while I was looking for a case study in ward, I witness something...

A senior, who is giving nursing care to a patient...and took time to actually talk to the patient and her relatives, explaining what the procedure and always reassess the patients' comfort. Still practicing what were taught in this nursing school....and still has that glow...

so I tell myself, what ever I do, in the end I'm the one who'll decide who I will be...for I am the leader of myself...and I too, want to have that 'glow' everlasting.....

3 years back......................
aren't we glowing? (maybe due to effect of editing~~)
by the way, its SARJANA, not SAUJANA. Saujana is a 'nasyid' group, though the way we lineup do look like a nasyid group...haha..

research (ii) : stress reliever

assalamualaikum..

we got overly motivated tonight. I mean, me and my research mates. we stayed at ibnu sina until 12 past midnight! credits to 'teh ais' from mak yong I guess, for providing us with extra 'caffein' power boost. (and extra trips to toilets too..)

so far, we've discuss a few components from chapter 1 for research proposal. that would includes the research aims/purpose, objective (specific version of purpose), research questions and hypothesis. yay..at least we had progressed in something.

We are not sure whether we're on the right track, we hope we are. But then again, who does? all of us are amatuer in research.

me and Joanne with our stress reliever..
aiyaa, i look like a 'nenek' already, too much thinking is a 'youth-look' killer.

the cat (in the middle) had been a good help to keep us alert toward the end of our discussion. its frantic effort "pawing" a plastic cup which appears to stuck on it's muzzle indirectly help increase our endorphins level.

now, what the h**l do i mean by ' increasing endorphins level"???!

well, when we laugh, http://www.emocutez.com hormones that related to stress such as dopamine and epinephrine will decrease in productions while 'happy' hormone called endorphin is being released. so, you'll become more relax http://www.emocutez.com. there are also some physiologic changes such as increase heart ratehttp://www.emocutez.com and exercises skeletal muscle http://www.emocutez.comwhich are present with laughter. when you laugh, you will also increase oxygen supply to your brain. this factor will promote alertness to a person.

                                                                                                                         ------> as stated here

so, when you're sleepy or stress, laugh your heart out!

ps: caffein's after effect hasn't worn off..haa, i can't sleep~~~~

research (i)

assalamualaikum...

the research equilibrium....

A lot of READING + a lot of THINKING + a lot of BRAINSTORMING  ===>>
uncountable cups of coffee + a lot of  HEADACHE + lack of SLEEPING + a mount of STRESS

to come up with something good comes with lots of works. haaaa...

i'm stressed. sudden rushed on our research proposal! our research progress was bit delayed from others.

we only see our supervisor this week, and was told that our research topic was lame. oh no! we were asked to explore new topic, came out with research problem, and title. and to complete our research proposal in a month time. CRAZY!!!!!

To do so, we are required to find as much  literature review as we can get. then we decided on topic related to nursing report and our research supervisor approve this. phew...the sky now looks brighter.

but not long because most of the previous research were done qualitatively; which is a "no go" for us. there comes the dark clouds again. and so left me, Gervanne and Joanne; staying back in class till late evening ; brainstorming.

one thing that i'm thankful with is to be blessed with a very concern supervisor. they really guide us well. after arguments and tiring discussion, we manage to tackle the topic into going in quantitative direction. yay, the sky is bright again, the birds is chirping, the flowers blooms..haha, it was such a good relief~~~~

Joanne jotting down ideas..brainstorming..
now, we can proceed to complete the first chapter of research proposal. huuu...another headache in the making. may we survive!

We Will Be the 40th!!

assalamualaikum...

I got up early today just for the sake of UKM's-39th Convocation Ceremony. I'm not graduating today. My turn will be next year perhaps..Insyallah. I was there today to meet up with seniors of course and to avenge last year regret of not having enough time to explore tapak pesta. haha, we reached UKM Bangi around 8.30 am and were greeted by empty stalls. Turns out that we were too early. Only those who were involves in clinical booth were seen scurrying here and there.

But fair enough, being early means that we are free to do as we like. We got all the time in the world to scan every booth and watched martial art demonstrations. There were silat, silambam, aikido and tae-kwan-do I think. there were also Upin Ipin mascot, who came to enlighten the children from colouring contest.

Upin & Ipin!!!

Later in the afternoon, we met up with Gervanne and Sun in Dewan Gemilang and set our journey to DECTAR. I called it journey because we walk all the way from Dewan Gemilang to Dectar. It was like reliving the time we had during orientation week in Bangi almost 3 years ago. yeah, it was tiring!

taking a break...
standing: Faez and me
front row; from left: Gervanne, Dayana, Su Ai, Dilla, Paan
notes: we are senior STUDENT... NOT senior CITIZEN!

We finally reached DECTAR with my feet blistering. OUCH... Sadly, we haven't cross path with most of our graduating seniors. huhu, everyone was everywhere, and so we station ourselves somewhere in front of DECTAR...hoping to see any of them. After much time waiting, we only met few of them.

with Kak Tay...

we were bathing under the hot sun while waiting for our bus back to PPUKM. everyone was drained out of energy. oh yes, we waited for almost an hour by the street, to catch up our ride! we had fun, and we had sunburn too~~

Next year will be our turn to donned the robe, walk up the stage, and received the scroll as the symbol of four years of joy and pain together. I couldn't possibly imagine what it will feel like, but one thing for sure, I'll definitely shed tears. Until that time, may we all be strong to face another year ahead..

with Sun..the junior..

free food is a blessing for empty stomach =)

assalamualaikum.

I was blessed with back to back 'jamuan raya' this week. Department of Nursing's on Monday and PPUKM on Tuesday. yippee, since i was kind of broke (JPA forgot our allowance maybe...) free food is something worth to be cherish!

decorations...

like always, every batch contributes performance. this is our department's tradition i suppose. so, this time around, we chose to do pantun and singing. the theme was Merdeka Raya and so does our performance. we only rehearse a day before and phew, we did quite good. Me and Dilla was told to sing the solo part for Satu Malaysia song. I think my voice was shaking and  only interact with the floor <------what a bad performer I was! Dilla was good all the way, so does the rest of us!

the 'pantun' trio
the 'singing division'

most of us went missing after the performance so there's not much picture taken. this would be our last time celebrating Hari Raya together...sob..sob~~~

Adult Learners

assalamualaikum..

Handling assignment without prior insight is tedious. Reading and reading and reading to the extent of asking myself, "What on earth am I reading? am I supposed to know all this??" That's what I encounter as soon as this semester begin. yup. Life as a final year student has finally begin. Living up to the expectation that you should be able to comprehend everything. pheww...Adult learning they say..There are so much things to do yet I didn't know where to start.

After staring at the dark sky for almost a week, finally came the sunlight that illuminates those darkness. All it takes is to ask. Yes. Ask for guidance from those who possess the knowledge. That's how you learn.  Asking question. We, or me, myself I supposed; always take the 'opportunity to ask' for granted. The right person is there but the idea is somewhere else, so I end up with no question. Therefore, from now on wards,  I should be cognizant of all the the resource there is to gain information and appreciate it. Sure, internet provide all the answer in the world, but the value of the information lies on how you understand the gist of the knowledge it hold. And the key to help you understand better is by discussing and questioning.

So next time, when you don't know what to do, go and ask for opinions...and do ask from the right person... :)

It is not foolish to feel stupid for a moment than being dumb forever.

kempen kesedaran kanser payudara 2011

assalamualaikum..

Kempen Kesedaran Kanser Payudara
24th April 2011
8.30am-4pm
Taman Seri Sentosa,
Jalan Klang Lama

the team
another job well done. kempen kesedaran kanser payudara. kempen yang dah memeningkan kepala semua, program paling mencabar yang kteorg pernah anjurkan. mana tak nya, setiap keputusan yang dibuat adalah tertakluk pada perubahan. ya, walaupun program dah nak berlangsung esok hari, hari ni boleh tukar-tukar plan lagi. huu, memeang mencabar. nak buat macam mana, ikut cakap big boss. tak ikut kene potong markah pulak.

preparation:

model seluar jeans...muka serius macam pikir masalah negara..

tukang hias~~

tukang jahit, sape nak tempah baju raya??!!

apa-apapun, program da pun selamat berlangsung. sambutan pun tak mengecewakan. penat sungguh. hari sabtu proses kemas dewan, hari ahad proses menjalankan kempen. waaa...harap2 dapat markah tinggi!

the big day!!!

the hall...

the activities..

final touch...haha, abaikan dahi yg berkerut, mulut yg muncung 2..perut tengah lapar.

breast self examination/ pemeriksaan sendiri payudara
dilakukan setiap bulan
7-10 hari selepas hari pertama haid

:: pergi berlari, terjumpa rezeki ::

assalamualaikum..

aku kena lariiii....tak sanggup nak tengok assignment yg makin menimbun itu. nak lari ikut rombongan pergi main boling, kurang berduit. mahu ikut pergi jalan2 cari makan, terasa berat badan dah cukup banyak bertambah. maka akhirnya larilah membawa diri kepada aktiviti yang tak menggunakan wang atau menambah berat. malahan , mengurangkan sunyi dihati dan mencambah kan ilmu yang ada.

terjumpa benda ini....
first time jumpa BP set yang macam ni. selalu nampak kat buku je. yang butang warna merah tu untuk kawal inflate dan deflate bp cuff. lebih kurang macam suis je. haa, dapat jugak belajar benda baru...

ya! ke program khidmat masyarakat atau khidmat rakyat bak kata Cik Lex. this is the second time round that i joined sivasanta medical camp. ramai betul adik2 comel memakai salwa kameez serta dhoti, datang untuk pemeriksaan mata. comel je tengok baju diorang. budak tadika kalau tak salah. datang satu kapal kot sebab baju lebih kurang jer..

suka aktiviti begini kerana ia membawa fikiran jauh dari rasa sunyi dihati dan mengurangkan darjah ketepuan di otak dek kerana assignment yang tak putus-putus. procrastinate for a good cause. bila tengok orang ramai datang, tanya macam-macam benda berkaitan kesihatan mereka dan ucap terima kasih bila soalan mereka terjawab, rasa diri dihargai. hah, teringat artikel kat NST sempena hari wanita sedunia dulu. 'women are lacking of 3 A's ; attention, affection and appreciation' bila tengok diri sendiri balik...hmm, mmg betul kurang dapat 3A tu. kurang2 kat sini dapat A yang no 3 tu...haha, agaknye masa ambik SPM dulu sibuk kejar A yang lain sampai tak perasan yang 3A ni pun penting jugak.

AaAaAah, sudah, dah mula lari topik~~~

sebelum balik, Uncle Siva dari sivasanta medical service tu ajak makan tengahari kat Lotus. sebenarnya serba salah sikit bila orang nak belanja makan ni. sebab aku memang selalu tak habiskan makanan. tabiat buruk yang sukar dikikis! bila orang belanja maka terpaksa menelan sedaya yang mungkin. tapi last2 tak habis jugak.

Dengar cerita Sultan Perlis ngan Agong pun pernah makan kat sini. bila aku tengok kedai tu, macam tak percaya pun ade. laeh je ghopenye (sederhana je rupanya). sekali masuk, wah not bad cantik jugak! lagi satu yang spesialnya restoran ni, mereka tak guna pinggan, tapi hidang makanan atas daun pisang. waaa, unik, tak caye, nih, kat bawah ni ade bukti!

hah ambik kau. daun pisang bukan main cantik, licin lagi bersinar. tindakan jimat bajet oleh tuan kedai yang agak kreatif. pasti pakcik, mak cik, abg atau akak yang ambil upah cuci pinggan rasa terkilan sebab khidmat mereka kurang diperlukan disini. by the way nice!

tada...nasi briani ayam..tak bley bla..tangan da siap nak menyuap. serius sedap sangat! sampai senak2 perut makan.
tapi tak abis jugak... =(

ps: bukan semua yang ade dalam poket kita tu rezeki kita, tiba2 teringat kata Pn Sam hari tu..by the way, ade sape2 yang teringin makan kat Lotus ni? kat area PJ ade. highly recommended! duit kasi kumpul banyak2 sikit pastu ajak aku sekali...
